Doxycycline kills the bacteria and stops the growth of the resulting cell monolayer. It does not affect the host’s ability to make proteins needed for survival. It does this by preventing the bacteria from growing and reproducing. This stops the infection from going into overgrowth and spreading of resistant bacteria.
It comes in various strengths, the standard strength being 100 mg/24 hours the most commonly used (100 mg/24 hours the standard strength is 200 mg/24 hours the standard strength is 300 mg/24 hours).
